Exclusive Mountain Resort" comes to mind when describing Farish Recreation Area, a 650-acre paradise nestled in the mountains west of the Academy at an altitude of 9,000 feet. Farish is in perpetual motion with fun activities going on all the time. Summertime finds hiking, mountain biking, fishing and camping. In the winter, Farish fun includes cross country skiing, sledding, ice skating, ice fishing, snowshoeing and solitude!

SUPPORT FACILITIES

A wide range of support facilities is available at USAF Academy, Peterson AFB, and Fort Carson Facilities available at recreation area: Bath House, Convenience Store, Equipment Rental, Fire Rings, Grills, Ice, Pavilions (Fee), Picnic Areas, Playground, Trails.

SEASON OF OPERATION:

Year-round for lodging and for day-use; campsites closed late October and open again in May.

RESERVATION POLICY

Advance reservations are highly recommended. Reservations accepted up to 90 days in advance, Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Cancellations/changes must be made NLT 14 days prior to reservation date to avoid charges.

ELIGIBILITY:

Active/Reserve/Retired Military/Dependent ID card holders/DoD Civilian Employees/and retired DoD Civilians. RESTRICTIONS:

Guests staying in lodging may not bring pets onto the facility overnight. Pets are allowed on leash with day-use patrons and overnight in tent, RV sites and Camper Cabins; owner must pick up after pet. No sewage dump station or water hookups. Potable water is available at locations around the facility, and from water buffaloes located throughout the campground. All visitors are advised to call ahead for road and weather conditions prior to making the drive, especially in winter. Entrance fee of $4 per vehicle for day-use patrons. USAF Academy fishing permit are required for anglers 16 years and older. Eligible patrons can purchase the yearly, daily and 2nd rod stamps during normal business hours at Farish and the USAFA, Outdoor Recreation.
