Helpful Laundromat Tips

Sort BEFORE you go. The key is to get in and get out. You don’t want to be there a long time so the key is speed.

Strive for simplicity. For the same reasons above, do all stain pre-treatments before you go. This just means you have to carry less with you. Keep things simple by only bringing laundry, detergent/tabs and dryer sheets.
Take the time to wipe out the washers and dryers before you use them. You don't need to be a germophobe, but you can’t be sure that the washer is clean from the previous use. It’s a basic precaution.
Smell the machine before you use it. Smell to see if someone used bleach in it the cycle before you. If so, avoid putting your darks in it. Not good.
Remember to check all of the settings. Whoever did laundry before you might have turned the settings to a small load on scorching hot. Check all dials, every time you wash.
It's hard to just sit while your laundry is washing, but don't leave your churning clothes unattended. If you don’t get back in time, someone may just pile your clothes on one of the tables in order to use the machine.
Who has time to iron? Use a fabric softener or dryer sheet to reduce fabric wrinkles. Select the lowest dryer temperature possible that will get the job done. Remove clothing from the dryer as quickly as possible and immediately fold or hang them.
Remember to bring a basket or bag to bring all of your laundry home in. The bags you hauled them in will work, but you may have a wrinkled mess by the time you get home. When it is time, quickly fold the laundry and drape the hang-up clothing over the top.
